Extracurricular Activities/School Partnerships

PS/IS 226 offers many after school activities for all students. We offer activities that span from dramatic arts to physical education. Take a look at our photo gallery then read about what we offer.

CHAMPS Middle School Sports & Fitness

The goal of the CHAMPS Middle School Sports & Fitness program is to improve student fitness levels and overall health by increasing opportunities for children to engage in physical activity, regardless of athletic ability. The program promotes health-related fitness through a mix of several after-school and before-school activities including traditional sports, non-traditional sports, and fitness activities. The ultimate goal is for students to grow to be CHAMPS — Cooperative, Healthy, Active, Motivated, Positive Students — for life.

Cool Culture

Cool Culture provides access to arts and culture as a way to increase literacy and learning in early childhood and to prepare children to succeed in school. In order to support our school with this important learning initiative, Cool Cultures Family Pass Program provides all our our preschool and kindergarten students and families with free, unlimited admission to premiere cultural institutions throughout New York City. In addition, they produce family events and educational materials to provide parents with fun, productive museum visits in English, Spanish and Chinese. Please see Ms. F. Delgado for details.

ColPENCIL/JP Morgan Chase

JP Morgan Chase has partnered with P.S./I.S. 226 since 2005. They offer our students resources to improve in college and career readiness topics. These skills prepare for the High School selection process and beyond. Some of the sessions include Kickoff and Personal Brand, Money: Interest Rates and Investments, Stock Market Analysis, and Acts of Kindness/Operation Gratitude to our brave troops in the military. We look forward to the 2018-2019school year and their continued work with our 8th grade class.

Broadway Junior

Developed by renowned educators and designed to suit school assemblies as well as the energies and attention spans of younger performers, Broadway Junior musicals are perfect for teachers or directors who are new to musical theater and seeking to introduce students to the joys of participating in a show.
Faculty along with students have performed, Into the Woods, Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid in the past few years to much applause and positive reviews!
